This text-based art installation is located in the heart of Edmonton’s inner city. It consists of 60 poems written by area residents sandblasted into McCauley sidewalks. This project was inspired by Lenoose Martial, a man who had been homeless for over thirty years and who walked along the very streets where his poetry is now featured. While the submissions include well-known poets and area residents, the project also reached out to children, first time poets, marginalized populations and inner city organizations.
Acknowledgement: This project was made possible through the Canada Council New Chapter Grant and E4C. A big thank you goes out to the numerous area schools, organizations, businesses, area poets and children who submitted poetry for this project. A special thank you goes out to the McCauley Community League and to the City of Edmonton.
